As usual, one of the things that comes to mind after a convention is future cosplays. It's also been a while since I last posted my 'to cosplay' list - I can't even find the last one through my tags - so here it is. Some of these costumes will probably never be done, and some have been on my list for years, but as long as a few are completed (like, say, three in the next six years) I'm happy. Also, not all the reference images are the greatest; I usually use my trades/DVDs/games for references instead of my digital images and don't have all the relevant things scanned/screencapped.

My Top Choices (i.e., the ones I'd most like to do)

-Apollo (Stormwatch/The Authority). I need to fabric marker the unitard and get a wig and gloves. If I can, I'd also like to rig up something to simulate Apollo's halo effect. It's too bad I don't have any of Apollo's height. Or muscle. Or sunny personality. . . . hmm. I still love him to pieces.

-Midnighter (ditto). Need a leather trenchcoat, mask, and to figure out what to do for the shirt. Even though I'm using Hitch's designs for all my Apollo and Midnighter references, I couldn't resist using this cover here as it is one of my favouritest images ever. (Besides, Coleby's Midnighter is pretty similar costume-wise to Hitch's.)

-Michael Jones (Desolation Jones). Need a trenchcoat (orange!), wig, and a few accessories (goggles, gas mask, fake gun). I don't think it's a coincidence that all my top three characters were created by Warren Ellis.

Other Comic Book Characters

Since I've already cosplyed Jenny Sparks and Jenny Quantum and Apollo and Midnighter are currently on my list, it crossed my mind that I should just cosplay everyone from The Authority!

(The Authority under Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch; bottom row, left to right: Jack, Angie, Jeroen; middle: Apollo, Midnighter, Shen; background top: Jenny Sparks; not pictured: Jenny Quantum, Habib [because they weren't created yet!])

I really want to cosplay Angie, but haven't figured out how I would approach her outfit. I wouldn't mind doing Jeroen, either, though I don't think I have anything I could reuse. Shen I'm not worried about since there is at least one incredibly awesome Shen cosplayer out there and I don't want to mess with large wings. Jack's a simple outfit minus the foot-tech, but I don't know how well it would work without contacts and I'd have to cut my hair. I haven't forgotten about Habib, but it's been a while since I've read Revolution and I don't remember what his design is like.

Angie's outfit is very shiny. It's not even an outfit per se, but rather Angie using liquid nanites to cover her body.

Jeroen, Earth's Shaman.

Over in Stormwatch (not the current series), there's Winter. I love him a lot, but he's had a bunch of different uniforms over the years and I've yet to find one I really like.

From Vertigo, there's Zee from DMZ. The first outfit is very similar to Jenny Spark's and both of them are fairly everyday clothes.

Another character with everyday clothes, Terry McGinnis from Batman Beyond.

My only other Batman/main DC character on this list, Cassandra Cain's Batgirl. This is my all-time favourite Batgirl design because it's actually scary. That, and the boots are sensible and not high-heeled. I don't think the chance of me doing this outfit is very high, but I like the design enough to keep it on my list.

Lastly, my newest addition to the list, Loki. While the image below is from the Avengers film, his outfit in Thor is somewhat different and I haven't decided which I prefer. (Thor on left, Loki on right.)

Non-Comics Characters

From the Thief series, Garrett. There are several different designs for Garrett and no clear reference images, which I like in the context of the game; I think never seeing Garrett clearly adds much to the atmosphere and the feel of being a master thief. (Well, okay, you can see Garrett pretty clearly in Thief 3, but I'm not interested in that game's Garrett design.) The one in the image below is closest to Thief: The Dark Project (the first game), although there are differences between the art and the in-game character; e.g., most art and wallpapers show Garrett with full gloves, but he uses fingerless gloves in-game.

Another computer game character, JC Denton from Deus Ex.

My only anime character currently listed, and one that's been on my 'to do' list for over six years: Chihaya from Earthian. He might never get done, though, especially as I stated earlier that I don't really want to deal with large wings. While I have re-read parts of Earthian semi-recently, I think Chihaya's still here out of habit more than anything else.

From cartoons, Mighty Max from, well, Mighty Max. Another everyday clothes outfit.

I have two Star Trek characters. The first is Miranda Jones from the Original Series episode "Is There In Truth No Beauty?" She's a telepath, is blind, and is one of the few female guest stars that doesn't show any desire to romance any of the crew members. Though you can't tell from the image, what Miranda's wearing is a long-sleeved, near floor-length dress. This and the other Trek image are from TrekCore.

From Deep Space Nine, Weyoun. Weyoun's mostly on here because I like the character a lot. While I might try his makeup, I don't know if I'll do his full outfit. (I used to have Garak, or at least a Cardassian, on my list. No real reason I took him off other than I think Weyoun's makeup would be easier.)

Two historical costumes. First, an early 19th-century British naval officer in the vein of Hornblower or the Aubrey/Maturin series. The reference image is from Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World with Doctor Stephen Maturin on the left and Captain Jack Aubrey on the right.

Second, someone from Ancient Greece. I don't have any specifics in mind; the reference image is from my copy of Mary Renault's The Persian Boy (even though the dancer looks nothing like my mental image of Bagoas). Since I've been interested in Ancient Greece off and on since late elementary school, it seems a shame never to do anything with it.

Lastly, from the Vampire Chronicles, Armand. (Who could really be counted as a third historical/period outfit.) I bought most of the material for him several years ago, so I might as well finish him someday. The art is by iizzard on DeviantArt.

Random Observation

The days where I only cosplay male characters are gone. As a matter of fact, this past year I've cosplayed more females (Jenny Q, Jenny S, Tomari, Spinelli) than males (Itsuki, Richie). Actually, I believe either Tomari or Jenny Q was the first female I cosplayed after having dressed as only males for six years. Now my list is 1/4 female.
